And as usual, when we talk about Guyana rum, the name is rarely an indication of what we are going to have in our glass. This is a rum from <strong>Uitvlugt <\/strong>but distilled from the double wooden pot still, the famous <strong>Port Mourant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joint bottling with <strong>Kintra<\/strong>, this version is presented in the classic bottles of Rum mercenary but without the classic \u00ab\u00a0pirate\u00a0\u00bb label. For this one, we are entitled to a new series called \u00ab\u00a0Black Label Collection\u00a0\u00bb, and this without the fact that Zakk Wilde does not select anything!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So here we are with probably a 1997 Uitvlugt like Duncan Taylor had proposed a few years ago \u2026. well I guess \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><a href=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ruex-0024-rum-uitvlugt-the-whisky-mercenary-black.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"384\" height=\"384\" src=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ruex-0024-rum-uitvlugt-the-whisky-mercenary-black.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"9965\" data-full-url=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ruex-0024-rum-uitvlugt-the-whisky-mercenary-black.jpg\" data-link=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/?attachment_id=9965\" class=\"wp-image-9965\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ruex-0024-rum-uitvlugt-the-whisky-mercenary-black.jpg 384w, https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/ruex-0024-rum-uitvlugt-the-whisky-mercenary-black-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 384px) 100vw, 384px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-item__caption\">Merci rumology.be<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><a href=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/69953400_2604670479583808_1087703848277555997_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"463\" height=\"463\" src=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/69953400_2604670479583808_1087703848277555997_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"9966\" data-full-url=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/69953400_2604670479583808_1087703848277555997_n.jpg\" data-link=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/?attachment_id=9966\" class=\"wp-image-9966\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/69953400_2604670479583808_1087703848277555997_n.jpg 463w, https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/69953400_2604670479583808_1087703848277555997_n-435x435.jpg 435w, https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/69953400_2604670479583808_1087703848277555997_n-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 463px) 100vw, 463px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-item__caption\"> J\u00fcrgen Vromans ? \ud83d\ude42 <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Color<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faithful to the continental demerara, either it is very dark, or it is typically this color: <strong>light gold, sauternes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nose<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather <strong>expressive<\/strong>, with beautiful <strong>herbaceous<\/strong>, <strong>fruity<\/strong>, <strong>buttered <\/strong>notes among others \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pritt <strong>glue<\/strong>, the <strong>rubber<\/strong>, the <strong>apples <\/strong>\/ pears from our orchards, a few more tropical fruits such as <strong>bananas<\/strong>, <strong>spices <\/strong>and a slight <strong>metallic <\/strong>bitterness make us think of Port Mourant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&rsquo;s rather fresh, with <strong>camphor <\/strong>and a \u00ab\u00a0reflex spray\u00a0\u00bb side in fact, very pleasant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wood is rather discreet and alcohol is present, without it being too disturbing but I expected less presence considering the <strong>49%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Palate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mouth is lively, creamy, pastry and fruity \u2026 little or no traces of damp wood as I can find at Port Mourant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Licorice<\/strong>, <strong>oak<\/strong>, <strong>tobacco <\/strong>are well assembled on a more buttery, bold side and in which we could find brown sugar. It is rather pastry, brioche and very nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The finish is rather long with <strong>pepper<\/strong>, <strong>vanilla <\/strong>and bitter <strong>chocolate <\/strong>and a rougher side at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Price<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">119\u20ac (wtf ???)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very beautiful Port Mourant, well controlled and <strong>balanced <\/strong>\u2026. I would have liked more fruit in fact, as in the 2003 Massam for example but it is clearly very well done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what for a so crazy price, it&rsquo;s amazing to ask \u00ab\u00a0only\u00a0\u00bb 119 \u20ac for a rum of this class \u2026.
