{"id":9054,"date":"2019-11-28T09:45:57","date_gmt":"2019-11-28T08:45:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/?p=9054"},"modified":"2020-01-14T07:51:20","modified_gmt":"2020-01-14T06:51:20","slug":"hampden-great-house-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/index.php\/2019\/11\/28\/hampden-great-house-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Hampden Great House"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">Back on Jamaican lands and more particularly in the <strong>Trelawny <\/strong>area, at <strong>Hampden Estate<\/strong>, one of the world&rsquo;s most funky rums, with a Hampden&rsquo;s spirit !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the first two <strong>official <\/strong>bottlings of the distillery, we were able to discover during the Whisky Live another official bottle, the one reserved exclusively for visits to the distillery: <strong>The Hampden Great House<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Luca explains in this video, it is an blend made by the master distiller of Hampden, <strong>Vivian Wisdom<\/strong> and not by Luca Gargano as for previous editions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ebz-91CBU2A\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, it&rsquo;s the <strong>purest expression of what Hampden can be<\/strong> \u2026 at least on paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This juice is<strong> 59%<\/strong> and is available only at the <strong>distillery <\/strong>and on certain events and would be at least 7 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The blend is composed of two different marks, 80% of <strong>OWH <\/strong>2012 and 20% of <strong>DOK <\/strong>2016. So, the most <strong>civilized <\/strong>mark and one of the most <strong>extreme <\/strong>but in small quantity \u2026 proof is once more that this kind of thing is not made to be tasted pure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So it should be <strong>funky <\/strong>but not go in all directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Note the beautiful packaging, classy <\/strong>\u2026 like all the hampden in fact \ud83d\ude05<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nose<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Directly aromas of grany <strong>apple <\/strong>come to tickle the narinnes \u2026 it is very fruity and rather fresh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The green <strong>olive<\/strong>, the <strong>pineapple<\/strong>, the <strong>smoke<\/strong>, the vanilla, the <strong>butter<\/strong>, the <strong>solvent <\/strong>(light) come to finish this beautiful perfumed nose, very \u00ab\u00a0<strong>hampden<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb for the blow \u2026 but while remaining in controlled !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&rsquo;s very fruity, with <strong>apple <\/strong>or <strong>pear <\/strong>fruit, apricot, <strong>lemon<\/strong>, <strong>pineapple <\/strong>and green banana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The typical <strong>smoked <\/strong>markers with hampden are present with a <strong>peanut <\/strong>side as well as a woody end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&rsquo;s really fine and delicate nose while still very <strong>funky <\/strong>\u2026 I&rsquo;m totally in <strong>love<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Palate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The palate is <strong>lively<\/strong>, <strong>full-bodied<\/strong>, creamy, <strong>iodine<\/strong>, <strong>pickled <\/strong>with a nice <strong>sugar <\/strong>touch \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&rsquo;s rather funky, with a nice roasted <strong>pineapple<\/strong>, butter, <strong>spices<\/strong>, <strong>olive <\/strong>and a nice <strong>fruit <\/strong>basket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&rsquo;s really long, on the olive, the smoke in retro-olfaction, the <strong>toast<\/strong>, the <strong>woody <\/strong>and the <strong>vanilla<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We feel that the juice is <strong>young<\/strong>, it&rsquo;s still lively and &lsquo;<strong>sharp<\/strong>&lsquo; but that&rsquo;s good \u2026 I think Hampden really found the perfect <strong>balance <\/strong>between funky and generous .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have here a very beautiful expression of what hampden, while remaining balanced, fine and generous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Price<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">89\u20ac<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&rsquo;s incredibly well done <strong>this Great House<\/strong> \u2026 They really managed to synthesize what Hampden is while making it super <strong>sexy <\/strong>and <strong>balanced <\/strong>\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The everyday hampden in some way. Congratulations for this monster \u2026.
