News in the Rum Excellence Collection<\/a> with this Bielle <\/strong>2012 YQM … YQM ??? Yes for Yquem<\/strong>, which of course refers to the cask coming from the well-known wine estate in Bordeaux<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we are in the presence of a rum of Marie Galante<\/strong> aged 6 years on the island in one of these prestigious casks and bottled in Paris in 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Titling a nice 59%<\/strong>, we should have something punchy and I hope well balanced !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowing Alexander <\/strong>and Bielle<\/strong>, I admit to be confident, but you never know \ud83d\ude05<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nose<\/h3>\n\n\n\n


The first nose is more about rubber<\/strong>, gunpowder, liquorice <\/strong>and citrus … directly it evokes the mythical Liberation 2012<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I may say stupidities, but it’s a vintage 2012 that was aged in Yquem cask … I say that, I say nothing but the Lib\u00e9ration 2012 was a juice aged until 2012 in the same type of barrel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So in 2012 this cask was empty and from there to think that our Bielle <\/strong> would have followed this release in the barrel …. and well why not after all eh? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fruit <\/strong>effusion follows, on citrus <\/strong>fruits with blood orange<\/strong>, lime, exotic fruits with green banana <\/strong>and a hint of eucalyptus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A touch of milk chocolate <\/strong>adds weight to this very fragrant and pleasant nose. Vanilla<\/strong>, nutmeg finish all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wax, encaustic <\/strong>and a nice licorice <\/strong>finally remind us that we have a real Bielle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alcohol is felt but not too negative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Palate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pwa is good … it’s punchy<\/strong>, fruity<\/strong>, vanilla, woody but finely and a very nice length <\/strong>…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notes of liquorice<\/strong>, wood, exotic fruits<\/strong>, spices<\/strong>, chocolate<\/strong>, citrus with lemon <\/strong>in the head and a tip of cane vegetable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack is frank and it’s very nice … we feel that there are watts but it is very moderate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The length is really impressive on licorice<\/strong>, chocolate<\/strong>, nutmeg and gunpowder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cost<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Really … pwa it’s good \ud83d\ude42 It’s young, it’s lively but so complex and intoxicating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love this fragrant, light, lively, elegant rums and this one is of any great class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only problem, \u20ac 189 for a rum of 6 years, it’s still a little bad … but the quality is there, clearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
