1979\/2019, Roger Caroni<\/strong> is 40 years old! Well not really, but the guy behind this pseudo facebook well, and I wanted to make a small custom gifts. An original thing related to these 4 decades and this \u00ab\u00a0small\u00a0\u00bb passion \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Velier’s 1997 Uitvlugt was the first \u00ab\u00a0big\u00a0\u00bb bottle I cracked for, I’ve decided that making a personalized replica of it would be a good idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contact is taken with Thomas, the guy behind \u00ab\u00a0la souris \u00e0 Moustache<\/a>\u00a0\u00bb who is also a big passionate about spirits in general, but especially a talented graphic designer with whom I discuss regularly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The easiest way to introduce Thomas is to ask him to do it in fact \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hi Roger, I introduce myself, Thomas Caqu\u00e9<\/strong>, 34 years old, I consider myself a self-taught graphic designer and a big fan of Rum. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have always been attracted by Image in all its forms and more particularly by the print media. Hunger of knowledge, I also improved over the years, to various activities related to paper: Calligraphy, Origami and recently, Pepakura (I let you \u00ab\u00a0googling<\/a>\u00a0\u00bb the term … ^^). <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, I want to develop via my entity \u00ab\u00a0le souris \u00e0 Moustache\u00a0\u00bb, ambitious projects that are close to my heart.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thomas is also a big fan of rums, from all origins … <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like many amateurs (or at least a big part), I started to taste rum, when one of my best friends offered me a \u00ab\u00a0Diplomatico – Reserva Exclusiva – 12 years old<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb for my birthday, that should be in 2012. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had to satisfy myself with this type of rums for 2 good years until my curiosity pushed me to read articles of \u00ab\u00a0<\/em>L’homme \u00e0 la poussette<\/em><\/a>\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0<\/em>Durhum<\/em><\/a>\u00a0\u00bb on Demeraras, Caronis, Jamaicans and agricole. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I missed this year (2014), the ephemeral shop \u00ab\u00a0Velier\u00a0\u00bb, but I was able to take revenge on the first Demerara I opened, a Diamond 1996 (SVW) and there, it was a blast !<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Replica’s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Combining his passion with his talent, he is the Creator of the famous replicas of velier bottling as \u00ab\u00a0Port Fagnant 1972<\/strong>\u00ab\u00a0, \u00ab\u00a0Caputo 1973<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb or \u00ab\u00a0Avella 1986<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb … <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This story began when we were looking for a way, <\/em>Thibaut<\/em><\/strong>, (aka \u00ab\u00a0D\u00e9d\u00e9 Thib\u00a0\u00bb) and I to thank our Italian friend who did so much for us the French amateurs … <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indeed, at the time (2014), it was much less complicated to find Demeraras DDL \/ Velier partnership at a decent price. It was even less complicated for him to find in Italy, cradle of the largest independent rum bottlers in the world. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, as thanks, we gave him in the year 2015, under the code name \u00ab\u00a0<\/em>Don Pietro 1.0<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb with 23 other \u00ab\u00a0Confreres\u00a0\u00bb a very nice bottle of Samaroli – Demerara Dark Rum – 1975. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since an idea never comes alone and we arrive at the end of the year, always to thank him, but in a more personal way, I thought of a wooden Advent calendar where in every box, would be a tasting sample of rum or other spirits, offered by one of the 24 participants. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project \u00ab\u00a0<\/em>Santa Pietro 2.0<\/em><\/a>\u00a0\u00bb had as an interesting concept, the fact that Pietro followed each box of the month of December, without knowing what he tasted and by whom the tasting was offered to him (principle of the blind tasting) … <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, I mixed business with pleasure, trying to personify a bottle that is for me the GRAAL in the world of rum, the \u00ab\u00a0Skeldon 1973\u00a0\u00bb to the image and personality of Pietro, because they were all 2 of the same year … <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having the prior approval of Luca Gargano, is born the first bottle of Rhum Dememara DDL \/ Velier \u00ab\u00a0faked\u00a0\u00bb, the \u00ab\u00a0Caputo 1973<\/strong>\u00ab\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
