{"id":6924,"date":"2019-06-15T22:28:40","date_gmt":"2019-06-15T20:28:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/?p=6924"},"modified":"2019-06-15T22:28:50","modified_gmt":"2019-06-15T20:28:50","slug":"hse-2003-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/index.php\/2019\/06\/15\/hse-2003-2\/","title":{"rendered":"HSE 2003"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">Detour by Martinique, and more specifically to the <strong>Habitation Saint Etienne<\/strong> that I particularly like &#8230; Just like the rest of the island in fact, but that you had already noticed I think no? \ud83d\ude42  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently a good friend came home with his brand new <strong>HSE 2003<\/strong>, the last bottling &#8230; the opportunity was too good, I decided to ask 3 centilitres to make a comparison with my version bottled in 2015. 4 years more for 2 rums put in cask the same day, it&rsquo;s not nothing \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What will this tasting teach us? real evolution? Decrease in quality because too woody? less power&#8230; well, let&rsquo;s go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_20190608_135850093.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"515\" src=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_20190608_135850093-960x515.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6912\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_20190608_135850093-960x515.jpg 960w, https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_20190608_135850093-595x319.jpg 595w, https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/IMG_20190608_135850093-768x412.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>2 versions&#8230;there are others \ud83d\ude09<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HSE 2003\/2015<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bottled on June 18, 2015, this makes an aging of <strong>12 years<\/strong> in the cellars of the house, under the sun so tropical. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Titling 47.8% and bottled in 50cl, I think this version is one of the first in fact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Color<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mahogany, relatively dark<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nose<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Confected fruit, ripe <strong>banana<\/strong>, <strong>prunes<\/strong>, hazelnuts, mokatine, chocolate, <strong>coffee<\/strong>, Christmas spices and a woody end are the first things that come to mind when I smell this beautiful rum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hot, opulent and greedy, this seems to be the main adjective of this rum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With aeration liquorice and <strong>tobacco <\/strong>come to show the tip of their nose and a nice sweet caramel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is very rich and pleasant, really engaging!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Palate<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sweet, sweet, greedy and warm&#8230; We have here a rather <strong>generous <\/strong>rum, marked by the wood among others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tobacco mixed with liquorice, vanilla, cane sugar and a nice fruity make this rum a rather complex juice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The alcohol is well integrated, leaving room for the pep without being too forward and the juice is sufficiently fat to line the palate with its presence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The finish is rather <strong>tannic <\/strong>and chocolate &#8230; can be too dry in fact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Price<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">80\u20ac (in 2015)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very nice single cask, nice, generous and warm &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&rsquo;m rather a fan of this profile, it remains an agricol rum rather \u00ab\u00a0<strong>heavy<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb in fact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The elegance may not be his number 1 adjective, but it does the job very well &#8230; just may be <strong>too tannic<\/strong> on the end in fact, it spoils a little my pleasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Score<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">87.623\/100<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">HSE 2003\/2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This version will have aged 4 years more, to bring to 16 years the number of years spent in cask for this version. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Strangely, he also contains 47.8% abv ?!?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Color<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Really the same in fac, It&rsquo;s pretty amazing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nose<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The nose is just as warm and greedy with lots of spice, tobacco, liquorice, vanilla, but it seems to me that the fruitiness is more on the exotic fruits and slightly less on the prunes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&rsquo;s more floral too and it gives a more \u00ab\u00a0feminine\u00a0\u00bb nose (Sorry Christine   ). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I even find a side <strong>Cola <\/strong>in fact, with a thin veil of <strong>menthol <\/strong>that brings us a nice freshness &#8230; it&rsquo;s very nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Palate<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 4 years older have strangely made more fruity and less tannic &#8230; so, a barrel is not an another. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fruits are really present, lush, mixed with beautiful Christmas spices, tobacco and licorice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The juice is just as oily and plate as big brother but the finish is much softer, more elegant, less tannic although the noble wood is present. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Cola candy is always present and gives this spirit a very beautiful greedy side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Price<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">+- 130\u20ac I think, not available yet in Europe<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Superb version of this single cask 2003, master purchase for me so I find it well done.
