Two rums distilled only with <strong>pure sugar cane juice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To celebrate this new collection, nothing like a new bottle mold. This one is directly inspired by the flasks used by <strong>Nikka <\/strong>&#8230; except that, according to Luca, he did not anticipate the worry that a full bottle could have with this very wide neck &#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, there is a nice spout delivered with, just not to spit everywhere \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Savanna 2012   (61%)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/savanna.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/savanna.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6573\" width=\"100\" height=\"187\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This Indian Ocean Stills from <strong><a aria-label=\"Savanna  (s\u2019ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.distilleriesavanna.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Savanna <\/a><\/strong>is a pure cane juice, distilled in single column on November 15, 2012, aged for 6 years in l&rsquo;\u00eele de la Reunion under tropical climate and bottled in barrel proof at 61%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Total production 1117 bottles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Color<\/strong>: light gold, straw <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nez<\/strong>: fairly fresh and pastry with a buttered side, brioche, camphor and caramelized. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After this moment, the fruits with grapes, peach and apricot appear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A rather bright nose where you can smell the young spirit, still marked by sugar cane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fine nose, I like it&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Palate<\/strong>:  Softer than I expected, the 61 watts are not really present. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After, we find a vegetal side, floral, woody, saline and an unelegant finish on bitter chocolate, it&rsquo;s astringent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Price<\/strong>: 89\u20ac<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong>: not the most sexy in fact, I don&rsquo;t know what to think ..and that&rsquo;s rarely good sign I think. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Far from being bad of course, but it will not be a great memory\u2026 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Score<\/strong>: 75\/100<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chamarel 2014 (58%)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><a href=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/chamarel.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/chamarel.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6574\" width=\"100\" height=\"186\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This rum from the distillery <strong><a aria-label=\"Chamarel  (s\u2019ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rhumeriedechamarel.com\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chamarel <\/a><\/strong>is made from pure cane juice too, distilled in September 2014 in a single column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aged 4 years in <strong>Mauritius <\/strong>and bottled in raw cask to 58%, what can we tell this young rum? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Color<\/strong>: light gold, straw <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nose<\/strong>: quite vegetal, herbaceous and a liquorice touch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The wood is already present and a caramelized aspect is felt quickly enough &#8230; The alcohol is rather present, it takes a little time before disappearing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After that, an earthy side is emerging, it is not very \u00ab\u00a0sexy\u00a0\u00bb in fact <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bouche<\/strong>:  the mouth is pretty lively too &#8230; even too much. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chocolate, vegetable, vanilla and sweet scents are offered followed by a slightly astringent oak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fruitiness is present with peppery mango, but soon obscured by the woody already quite tenacious. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Price<\/strong>: 69\u20ac<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong>:\nwhat to say &#8230; at first glance it will be a &lsquo;bof&rsquo; in fact. I find the juice slightly too young, too fiery, and ultimately very unkind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Score<\/strong>: 73\/100<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Disappointment <\/strong>&#8230; no other words on my side. <strong>Velier <\/strong>had not been used to such a disappointment in fact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, it&rsquo;s<strong> far from bad<\/strong>, but it&rsquo;s clearly not two great rums &#8230; The Savanna does better, with a better integrated alcohol and a more perfumed profile.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back on two new products from Velier, , with these indian ocean stills and their new destinations &#8230;. finally, not so new that because a passage through Savanna and Chamarel had already been proposed in the past with \u00ab\u00a0Habitation velier\u00a0\u00bb.
