Perso, j\u2019adore quand ils <em>(ou les embouteilleurs ind\u00e9pendants)<\/em> trouvent le bon mix entre exub\u00e9rance jama\u00efcaine et ma\u00eetrise de l\u2019alcool. Du coup, quand un nouveau Hampden officiel d\u00e9barque, impossible de ne pas avoir envie d\u2019y go\u00fbter ! Surtout quand l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe de la distillerie m&rsquo;envoie une bouteille me direz vous ? \ud83d\ude0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bref, aujourd\u2019hui, je suis ravi de vous parler de <strong>Hampden 1753<\/strong>, le dernier-n\u00e9 de la distillerie. Un embouteillage officiel qui s\u2019annonce prometteur et qui, je l\u2019esp\u00e8re, saura capturer cette signature que j\u2019aime tant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Et comme cette version est l\u00e0 pour comm\u00e9morer la date de cr\u00e9ation de cet illustre distillerie, je vous propose un rapide r\u00e9sum\u00e9 de l&rsquo;histoire de celle-ci.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hampden Estate poss\u00e8de une longue histoire remontant \u00e0 <strong>1753<\/strong>, \u00e9poque o\u00f9 il s\u2019agissait d\u2019une vaste plantation sucri\u00e8re appartenant \u00e0 un certain <strong>Archibald Stirling<\/strong>, un \u00c9cossais. La distillation aurait d\u00e9but\u00e9 peu apr\u00e8s, et en 1779, une rhumerie occupait d\u00e9j\u00e0 le rez-de-chauss\u00e9e de la grande demeure surplombant le domaine. Pendant plus de deux si\u00e8cles, <strong>Hampden a produit uniquement du rhum non vieilli en vrac<\/strong>, sans marque propre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 2000, le domaine \u00e9tait en difficult\u00e9 financi\u00e8re et a \u00e9t\u00e9 repris par le gouvernement jama\u00efcain en 2003. Jug\u00e9e obsol\u00e8te et non rentable, la distillerie a finalement \u00e9t\u00e9 rachet\u00e9e en 2009 par la famille <strong>Hussey<\/strong>, qui l\u2019exploite via Everglades Farms Ltd. Ils ont relanc\u00e9 Hampden avec la marque Rum Fire et, en <strong>2018<\/strong>, ont officiellement lanc\u00e9 Hampden Estate en partenariat avec <strong>La Maison &amp; Velier<\/strong>, mettant enfin en bouteille leur propre rhum vieilli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Depuis, des investissements importants ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9s, notamment l\u2019ajout de nouveaux alambics en 2020, augmentant la capacit\u00e9 de production \u00e0 1,4 million de litres d\u2019alcool pur par an. De fa\u00e7on \u00e9trange, Hampden abrite \u00e9galement un cimeti\u00e8re familial o\u00f9 repose <strong>Dermot Owen Kelly-Lawson<\/strong>, ancien propri\u00e9taire du domaine (1827), dont les initiales DOK d\u00e9signent aujourd\u2019hui l\u2019une des marques de rhum les plus riches en esters de la distillerie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover\" style=\"min-height:342px;aspect-ratio:unset;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"952\" height=\"694\" class=\"wp-block-cover__image-background wp-image-23162 size-full\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/hampden-1753-2-tile2.jpg\" style=\"object-position:56% 73%\" data-object-fit=\"cover\" data-object-position=\"56% 73%\" srcset=\"https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/hampden-1753-2-tile2.jpg 952w, https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/hampden-1753-2-tile2-595x434.jpg 595w, https:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/hampden-1753-2-tile2-768x560.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 952px) 100vw, 952px\" \/><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-background-dim\" style=\"background-color:#71775e\"><\/span><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-cover-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vieilli pendant <strong>3 ans<\/strong> en f\u00fbts de <strong>bourbon <\/strong>et embouteill\u00e9 \u00e0<strong> 46%<\/strong>, ce Hampden 1753 fait partie de la gamme permanente de la distillerie, avec le 8 ans et le \u00ab\u00a0HLCF Classic\u00a0\u00bb et est pens\u00e9 pour offrir une introduction parfaite \u00e0 l\u2019univers aromatique de la distillerie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&rsquo;\u00e9tiquette indique 476.9 gr\/hlpa d&rsquo;esters, ce qui indique le mark <strong>HLCF<\/strong>, \u00e0 mi chemin dans l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle menant au 8<sup>em<\/sup> et plus extr\u00eame mark, DOK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Nez<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Min\u00e9ralit\u00e9 assez marqu\u00e9e, avec une belle dose de fruits exotiques l\u00e9g\u00e8rement r\u00f4tis et bien m\u00fbrs, la frangipane et la p\u00e2te d&rsquo;amande se m\u00ealent alors \u00e0 la banane, l&rsquo;ananas, la pointe de silex, le chocolat blanc, la vanille et le poivre rose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On est clairement chez Hampden, quelques notes de solvants et d&rsquo;olives font alors leur apparition sans toutefois \u00e9craser ce profil assez brioch\u00e9 et gourmand o\u00f9 un l\u00e9ger fum\u00e9 vient terminer le tout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les 46% lui vont \u00e0 ravir, \u00e7a semble tr\u00e8s onctueux et doux. \u00c7a laisse pr\u00e9sager une belle r\u00e9duction o\u00f9 le gras et les ar\u00f4mes du rhum auront bien \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9serv\u00e9s, malgr\u00e9 l&rsquo;ajout d&rsquo;eau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bouche<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Douce, l&rsquo;entr\u00e9e en bouche se veut grasse et gourmande et nous offre directement ce que l\u2019on est en droit d\u2019attendre d&rsquo;un Hampden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&rsquo;ananas, la banane, la pomme granny sont accompagn\u00e9s d&rsquo;un fin caramel beurre sal\u00e9, de notes bois\u00e9es l\u00e9g\u00e8rement am\u00e8res, de petit beurre \u00e9cras\u00e9, de pain toast\u00e9, de tapenade d&rsquo;olive, d&rsquo;artichaut, de r\u00e9glisse, de cuir et d&rsquo;un fum\u00e9 persistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le bois\u00e9, apr\u00e8s seulement 3 ans de vieillissement apporte d\u00e9j\u00e0 son lot d&rsquo;\u00e9pices, de feuilles de tabac, de poudre de chocolat de fa\u00e7on assez l\u00e9g\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&rsquo;alcool est tr\u00e8s bien int\u00e9gr\u00e9, le plaisir de d\u00e9gustation est total et sans trop de sensation aqueuse. Tr\u00e8s belle r\u00e9duction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prix<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">59.9\u20ac<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tr\u00e8s bel embouteillage, o\u00f9 l\u2019objectif \u2014 offrir une porte d\u2019entr\u00e9e aux rhums Hampden \u2014 est totalement atteint selon moi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u2019est funky, fruit\u00e9, fum\u00e9, min\u00e9ral, et la r\u00e9duction rend le moment tr\u00e8s agr\u00e9able\u2026 le tout pour un prix plus que raisonnable. Bravo !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bien entendu, les grands fans de Hampden qui envoient du lourd seront peut-\u00eatre un peu d\u00e9\u00e7us, mais ils ne sont clairement pas le public cible.
