One of my first favorites was their <strong>Guatemala XO<\/strong> but since then, I had stayed on the idea that this bottler might be offering too much \u00ab\u00a0sauc\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb rum for me in fact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Error, because they sweet some of their cuv\u00e9es transparently, but they understood with their range \u00ab\u00a0<strong>Extreme<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb that rum geeks appreciated moderately the practice. So, here we are 5-6 years later discussing one of the many new products from Maison Ferrand, the 2003 <strong>Clarendon <\/strong>and its splendid label and its dosage equal to <strong>0 grams per liter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Distilled therefore in 2003 at <strong>Clarendon<\/strong>, property of \u00ab\u00a0National Rum of Jamaica\u00a0\u00bb which itself is owned by a third party by Maison Ferrand, this rum will have benefited from a long fermentation of <strong>two weeks<\/strong> and an aging of <strong>16 years in Jamaica<\/strong> in bourbon barrels and <strong>1 year at Ch\u00e2teau de Bonbonnet<\/strong> in Ferrand cognac barrels. The mark of this rum is <strong>MMW <\/strong>which of course means \u2026 er I don&rsquo;t know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This bottling has <strong>49.5%<\/strong> abv and comes from the assembly of <strong>29 barrels<\/strong> of this vintage. The more candied fruits are not to be outdone, with an almost <strong>prune <\/strong>and Corinthe grappes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, we quickly fall on a much more greedy profile where the <strong>marzipan<\/strong>, the almond paste, the <strong>frangipane <\/strong>combine with a light <strong>woody<\/strong>, nutmeg and a nice touch of very delicious <strong>vanilla<\/strong>. All with a slight trace of Jamaica-specific <strong>solvents <\/strong>and <strong>olives<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s really Jamaica style, but not over the top. It is a rather greedy and <strong>balanced <\/strong>nose where alcohol is really well integrated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Palate<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The palate is sweet, but with enough <strong>pep <\/strong>not to fall into grandmother&rsquo;s liquor \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We find there the <strong>fruity <\/strong>profile of the nose with a more significant presence of <strong>woody <\/strong>I find. The spices are intermingled with more exotic notes, all on a super gourmet profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Candied fruit is still very present with this <strong>prune<\/strong>, dried <strong>mango<\/strong>, green <strong>banana <\/strong>and a hint of very delicious <strong>vanilla<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The finish is rather long on a chocolate <strong>bitterness <\/strong>which can disturb at first, but which you get used to quickly enough, the first sip passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Price<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">79\u20ac<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Conclusion<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very <strong>nice <\/strong>surprise that this Clarendon in Plantation mode. Given the more woody finish, I think that the past year in Cognac barrels has helped to make this juice a delicious one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The kind of bottle ideal for presenting a novice what a Jamaican rum is, while surprising a more experienced lover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well done !
