In this article, I explained how I found \u00ab\u00a0nice\u00a0\u00bb a <strong>Don Papa Rare Cask<\/strong>, all this blindly and to the great amusement of my friend Claus who sent it to me !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May 2020, in full deconfinement, I receive a new mystery sample from an another nice guy, but this time there is a clue \u2026 \u00ab\u00a0<strong>C 1929<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0<em>give it times, it deserves it !<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So here I am re-embarked on a blind tasting which promises to be very friendly, the person who offered me this sample used to go looking for very beautiful things!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Basically, the article was to be called \u00ab\u00a0<strong>The mystery sample part II<\/strong>\u00ab\u00a0, but given the quality of this sample, I could not not mention the name directly in the title \u2026 so for the surprise effect, it&rsquo;s effectively not great \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Nose<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the opening of the sample, directly no doubt for me, we are in the presence of a <strong>cognac<\/strong>, and it looks very <strong>fruity<\/strong>, exotic limit \u2026 I love cognacs in this style!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Exotic fruits<\/strong> so with passion, <strong>mango<\/strong>, guava, papaya, <strong>citrus<\/strong>, peach, <strong>apricots <\/strong>\u2026 it is very fruity and a tangy candy \/ <strong>cola <\/strong>aspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Behind that, as the frame we find a fine <strong>caramelized<\/strong>, <strong>wood<\/strong>, a few more notes on milk <strong>chocolate<\/strong>, <strong>tobacco <\/strong>and a little <strong>pepper<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The alcohol is really melted, I would say a little <strong>40-43%<\/strong> in terms of alcohol levels, but it&rsquo;s still very complicated with old spirits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A very fragrant nose therefore, <strong>seductive<\/strong>, <strong>elegant <\/strong>and <strong>delicious<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Palate<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very sweet, more <strong>woody <\/strong>than the nose with a nice <strong>chocolatey <\/strong>frame, <strong>tobacco<\/strong>, <strong>toffee<\/strong>. The contrast between the nose and the mouth is quite marked \u2026 we are traveling to something else there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>fruits <\/strong>are quite present but more stewed with always these <strong>apricots<\/strong>, quetsche and these <strong>exotic fruit<\/strong>s as desired. We always find this <strong>harlequin <\/strong>candy side in fact, very fragrant and a <strong>freshness <\/strong>more than astonishing compared to the great age of this spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The finish is very long for a <strong>very well integrated<\/strong> alcohol. Pwa it&rsquo;s good \u2026 I stay on my first impression, it is of course a cognac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Price<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">400\u20ac<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Conclusion<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Result, yes it is indeed a <strong>cognac<\/strong>\u2026 and a very old cognac even because it does not date from 1929 but from <strong>1925<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the first opus of the youngest on the place of bottlers in Belgium, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.malternative-belgium.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Malternative Belgium<\/a>, not far from my home. And as the name suggests, it will not be whisky but a cognac from <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cognacmarieriviere.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\">H\u00e9ritage by Ren\u00e9 Rivi\u00e8re<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Measuring <strong>49%<\/strong>, this venerable cognac has been bottled <strong>66 <\/strong>times from a Dame Jeanne which dates it from <strong>1981<\/strong>. This brandy would therefore have remained<strong> 56 years<\/strong> in barrel and was distilled over<strong> 95<\/strong> years ago!
