Yes, besides the fact that it is indeed 3 rums distilled in Jamaica, they will all have been aged on our good continent and in addition, two of them will have been finished in other non-Jamaican barrels \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <strong>Hampden <\/strong>which will have completed its last two weeks of aging in a barrel of <a href=\"http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/index.php\/en\/2020\/04\/30\/enmore-vsg-1994-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Enmore 1994<\/a> and a <strong>Worthy Park<\/strong> which will have been transformed in a barrel of Bowmore \u2026 There remains the<strong> New Yarmouth<\/strong> which will have remained (very) wisely in its barrel of bourbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So on paper, this note is not really to please me, as the juices seem extreme with a Hampden and a New Yarmouth each grading more than <strong>65%<\/strong> but in the end, a lot of surprises \u2026 go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover has-background-dim\" style=\"background-image:url(http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/hd.png)\"><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Hampden 1998<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This Hampden distilled in <strong>1998 <\/strong>will have been finished in <strong>Enmore <\/strong>barrels and has a title of <strong>65.9%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Color<\/span><\/strong>: Slightly darker than usual, the 2 weeks in Enmore barrels played I imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&rsquo;re more on an old gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Nose<\/span><\/strong>: A rather lively nose where we find directly the <strong>High Esters<\/strong> side of rums from Hampden. Almost the alcool is present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is very <strong>fruity<\/strong>, on ripe bananas, roasted pineapple, lemon, granny apple and all that surrounded by a kind of ancho\u00efade and olives. Of course, the glue \/ solvent side is there as often in this type of rums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Butter, vanilla and some more floral notes then appear, as well as pink pepper berries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A very fragrant nose, pleasant although a little too alcoholic. I am definitely a small nature, I admit it to you \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Palate<\/span><\/strong>: Argh, it&rsquo;s raw as rum! the 66 watts are still present anyway \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following this, there is a relatively buttered rum, on anchovies, olives, dried fruits and of course <strong>tropical fruits<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The banana and pineapple that we had in our nose are still there, as well as the vanilla and the pink pepper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have<strong> more tertiary traces than usual<\/strong>, the bitter walnut and a fine smoky oak are more marked than on other Hampden. I imagine that the finish of two weeks in the barrel of the Enmore 1994 is not unrelated to this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Besides that, we can&rsquo;t really say that the enmore finishing is very marked \u2026 we would not have been told, no one would have noticed it I think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The finish is of course well placed under the sign of the fairly classic <strong>smoke <\/strong>from Hampden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Price<\/span><\/strong>: 90\u20ac (50 cl)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Conclusion<\/span><\/strong>: An old Hampden is often an opportunity to have something less wild, but here, savagery is still the order even after 22 years in barrels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So,it is less acidic or marked by the olive than some others, but alcohol is still quite harsh to tame I find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&rsquo;s good, but it won&rsquo;t remain a big Hampden for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Score<\/span><\/strong>: 86\/100<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover has-background-dim\" style=\"background-image:url(http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/96144694_778859745979856_1145468658311495680_o.jpg)\"><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Worthy Park 2007<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Attention, this <strong>Worthy Park 2007<\/strong> benefited from an <strong>Islay-Bowmore<\/strong> finish \u2026 good to know before buying! It titles 57.3%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Color<\/span><\/strong>: gold<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Nose<\/span><\/strong>: pastry and <strong>fruity <\/strong>\u2026 there is a nice brioche side, <strong>creamy <\/strong>border, vanilla with lots of fruit including a light banana but especially green apple, <strong>lemon <\/strong>and <strong>pear<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The spices with <strong>pepper <\/strong>and nutmeg, some dried fruit, <strong>smokiness <\/strong>and a nice woodiness probably come from the finish in <strong>Islay <\/strong>\u2026 it clearly changes the profile of this Worthy Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The creamy peat is still felt, it really brings a nice layer of complexity to the whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Palate<\/span><\/strong>: haaaa there, clearly you have to love the <strong>peat <\/strong>because we are right in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This impression of <strong>ashes <\/strong>from cold cigarettes, smoked, peppery comes directly over the rum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The finish, <strong>sweeter<\/strong>, fatty, on the <strong>candle <\/strong>in particular and a slight fruity reminds us that we actually drink something other than a whisky, but blindly it will not be easy to determine what&rsquo;s on the glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The alcohol is very well integrated, it brings the peps it needs without being too present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Price<\/span><\/strong>: 90\u20ac<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Conclusion<\/span><\/strong>: yeah \u2026. special, far from bad but I admit I don&rsquo;t understand the interest of the thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In facts, if I want peat I use to drink a Ledaig or a Caol Ila.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without being negative, I understand better why Worthy Park doesn&rsquo;t want us to use its name. If someone discover this distillery with this juice, it won&rsquo;t be something good for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Note<\/span><\/strong>: 79\/100 \u2026 yes it&rsquo;s a bit harsh but, even if it&rsquo;s far from bad, it&rsquo;s no longer rum. I am not a fan of finish in general, here even less because the Worthy Park is too distorted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover has-background-dim\" style=\"background-image:url(http:\/\/leblogaroger.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/87482241_733047313894433_3170460058072907776_n.jpg)\"><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-cover-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">New Yarmouth 2009<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This New Yarmouth from <strong>2009 <\/strong>titles a big <strong>66.9%<\/strong> and seems, on paper, to be something really tooo crazy for me\u2026 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Color<\/span><\/strong>: gold<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Nose<\/span><\/strong>: there no worries, we are back in <strong>Jamaica <\/strong>without a doubt \u2026. it smells very strong <strong>solvent <\/strong>and ripe<strong> tropical fruit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So we find a mixture of bananas, pineapple, marzipan, a light caramel, pink pepper, toasted \/ smoked, vanilla and some citrus fruits \u2026 clearly, if I have drunk this in blind challenge, it&rsquo;s Hampden my answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The thing is that solvents are present but do not overwrite everything, it is a fairly fragrant and balanced nose in fact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Almost 67% are really \u00ab\u00a0erased\u00a0\u00bb, and that&rsquo;s pretty crazy. For an 11 year old rum which seemed so extreme, the nose is really very <strong>round<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Palate<\/span><\/strong>: very <strong>brioche<\/strong>, on vanilla, butter, a fine woody \/ toasted note and a lot of <strong>exotic fruit<\/strong> as on the nose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is very oily, very present in the mouth without it loosening the back teeth \u2026 it is really impressive balanced even if the aromas are rather marked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Again, the 67% are strangely quite well-rounded overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rather long finish offers us aniseed, brined and smoky scents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Price<\/span><\/strong>: 50\u20ac<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Conclusion<\/span><\/strong>: amazed \u2026. where I expected something monstrous, I&rsquo;m literally on the ass actually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I saw that it was a New Yarmouth of 11 years at 67%, I would never have bet on it \u2026 impressive even if it remains of course marked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-amber-color\">Note<\/span><\/strong>: 89\/100<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back to our German friends from Rum Artesanal, with 3 new bottlings 87% Jamaican \u2026 87%?
