La Favorite Cuvée Privilège pour Lulu

For this new article, I offer you the tasting of the new cuvée from the house La Favorite in Martinique. The privilege for Lulu in tribute to the grandmother of the current owner, Lucienne Dormoy.

Having had the chance to taste a prototype version of this cuvée in July, I cann’t hide the fact that I awaited the final version with as much excitement as a groupie of Mötley Crüe in the lodges …. at the great era in any case! 🙂

Bottled in honor of Franck Dormoy’s grandmother, this cuvée commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Lucienne, says Lulu. Wife of André Dormoy, she was head of the distillery for 50 years with her husband.

This cuvée is a blend of 5 different vintages, the oldest of which is none other than the 1998, a very good year in Martinique, and the 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2008.

The whole grading 45%, which is more than the other privileges, enough to give pep to the whole! 5000 bottles, hand waxed as usual, will have been produced.

Color

Golden mahogany ball. It is fatty without appearing too heavy or sweet …

Nose

Full of La Favorite, once again we literally stroll through the distillery’s cellars …

It is woody, very pastry, buttered, roasted with a nice moka cream, brioche, fruity. There is wax, candied fruit, stewed fruit, tobacco, brown sugar, quid with rum, prunes.

A very soft, fragrant and nice nose … it is delicious with a superb « reviens y » side, delicate.

Palate

Lively, pleasant, woody with a nice, more fragrant finish …

It is clearly not strong and punchy, but the 45% still helps to keep this delicate nectar longer in the mouth than the previous privilege for André Dormoy.

We find there the main markers discovered on the nose, with a bigger woody presence although it disappears quickly enough to give way to more fruity aromas.

The pastry side is still very present and brings a lot of roundness followed directly by the fruits. The whole still encompassed by this « old » wood typical of the small Martinican distillery.

Price

145€

Conclusion

Truly a nice pleasure rum … The length is not crazy but more persistent than the previous privileges.

A beautiful wood tinted with mocha delicately adorns the more fragrant aromas of this blend.

Personally, I am really happy with this choice to increase the watts … there is more pep, freshness and the side « grandmother’s liquor » that flibuste or privilege could leave is here well attenuated.

This blend is like the image we make of a grandmother in the end, sweet and delicious and a little sparkling ….

Well, again I’m a fan 🙂
